When a corporation wanted to target only key customers
at a major tradeshow, it used a clip-on flashlight by
Adva-Lite« (asi 32145) to attract the appropriate
attendees to their booth. Prior to the show, the
company ordered red and blue magnetic clips, which were
mailed separately from the light in a 3-D mailing
piece, as an invitation to visit their booth. Large
volume customers received red clips; medium volume
customers received blue clips. When the attendee came
to the booth, he or she was given a presentation and
the flashlight portion of the clip-on light. The
recipient's name was crossed off a list on a red or
blue clipboard. At the end of the show, the remaining
names and lights were given to the appropriate sales
rep for a personal presentation to the customer. The
program allowed the company to successfully target a
specific attendee group and easily identify them at the
show. In addition, they were able to use the two-piece
product in a creative mailing to generate interest and
attendance at their booth, to which they attributed
their 85-percent response rate. Since each attendee was
pre-qualified, those who did not attend the show were
identified and presentations were made at their offices.
