Safety Myth - Busted!

Decrease Recordables
Myth:
The most dangerous time of the day to work is at the end of the shift when people are tired or in a hurry to finish their work to get home. The most dangerous day to work is Monday.
Busted:
OSHA statistics show that there is in fact a most dangerous time of day to work. One might think it is near the end of the shift when people are tired or in a hurry to finish their work so they can go home. Not so.
l
Most nonfatal accidents involving time away from work occur 2-4 hours into the shift. These results are consistent in all industries from Leisure and Hospitality to Manufacturing. Statistics do not show that any one day is more dangerous than another. There are fewer accidents on weekends but there are fewer people working on weekends.*

*Statistics are for non fatal injuries and illnesses
